Facial rejuvenation increases and restores the appearance of a youthful look. In the effort to restore facial geometry and skin appearance Austin Plastic Surgeon Dr. Gorman has perfected the above procedures that can be combined for your overall desired beauty goal: your face since past or the face you've always wanted.

Face Lift (full & mini)

If the look of your face no longer reflects how you feel about yourself, a facelift, or rhytidectomy, can make you look younger by smoothing the loose skin on your face and neck, tightening underlying tissues, and removing excess fat. It can eradicate deep wrinkles in cheeks or a deep line running from your nose to the corners of your mouth. It can remove loose skin and wrinkles in your neck, and even the "jowly" look that comes with the loss of a well-defined jaw line.

Performed on both men and women, a facelift can be combined with other procedures, like a forehead lift, eyelid surgery, nose reshaping, or skin rejuvenating treatments like chemical peels or dermabrasion. Austin Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. William H. Gorman generally includes a neck lift with a full facelift to achieve best results.

Eyelid Lift (4-lid blepharoplasty) - upper & lower bleph

Using detailed diagrams and illustrations; Austin Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. William Gorman will take you through a step-by-step informational session describing his professional recommendation for your eyelid lift.

Eyelid lifts are usually undergone in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures. eyelid surgery corrects sagging, puffy or drooping eyelids, as well as bags and bulges above and below the eyes. This condition is caused when fat forces its way through layers of muscles. If surgery is used to correct visual field defects, upper-eyelid surgery may be covered by medical insurance. The surgery usually takes 1 to 3 hours to complete and is considered an outpatient procedure.

During recovery, the eyelids may feel tight and sore as the anesthesia wears off; however, any discomfort can be controlled with oral pain medication. You will be able to start reading after 2 or 3 days and you can go back to work: 7 to 10 days. Contact lenses: 2 weeks or more. Strenuous activities and alcohol consumption can resume after about 3 weeks, and the bruising and swelling will go down in several weeks. Results and recovery will vary with each patient.

Forehead Lift & Brow Lift

Using detailed diagrams and illustrations; Dr. William Gorman will take you through a step-by-step informational session describing his professional recommendation for your forehead lift.

A forehead lift (AKA "brow lift") is a procedure that restores a youthful look above the eyes. The area is a large focal point for expressions and over time the muscles begin to weaken allowing deep wrinkles to appear along with other undesired results like loosened tissue. The procedure can correct drooping brows and improves the wrinkles that may make a person appear angry, sad or tired.

In a forehead lift procedure the trouble causing muscles and tissues are removed or altered to smooth out the area, slightly raise the eyebrows, and minimize frown lines. Incision lines include, but are not limited to, behind the hairline, or, with minimal incisions, using a viewing instrument called an endoscope. Dr. Gorman will give you his professional opinion as to what procedure is right for you.

Feel free to ask Dr. Gorman further details about the procedure - "There is no such thing as a 'stupid' question"

Neck Lift

A neck lift, or lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure that improves visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck, such as:

  • Excess fat and skin relaxation in the lower face that creates jowls

  • Excess fatty deposits under the chin

  • Loose neck skin

  • Muscle banding in the neck, which created abnormal contours

The loss of youthful contours in the face and neck can be due to a variety of factors, including heredity, gravity, environmental conditions, and stress.

Some people feel they are not ready for a full facelift because the upper face is still pleasing.

However, many patients will note excess wrinkling of the neck skin, a "turkey wattle" or double chin, and jowl lines.

When the neck area doesn't match the upper facial appearance, a neck lift may be a good solution.

Rejuvenation procedures that can be performed in conjunction with a neck lift are: a brow lift, to correct a sagging or deeply furrowed brow, fat transfer, to add fullness to the lips and cheeks and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, or eyelid surgery, to rejuvenate aging eyes.

As a restorative surgery, a neck lift does not change your fundamental appearance and cannot stop the aging process. A neck lift can only be performed surgically; non-surgical rejuvenation treatments cannot achieve the same results, but may help delay the time at which a neck lift becomes appropriate and complement the results of surgery.

Nose Surgery (nose job / rhinoplasty)

Austin Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. William Gorman will take you through a step-by-step informational session describing his professional recommendation for your nose surgery.

Rhinoplasty is a highly desired procedure for those with a respiratory impediment (breathing issues), nasal trauma (blunt, penetrating, blast), congenital defect, a failed former rhinoplasty, or a desire to aesthetically enhance ones nose.

A Rhinoplasty surgery - closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty - Dr. Gorman creates a functional, aesthetic and proportionate nose by separating the nasal skin and soft tissues from the osseo-cartlaginous (bone-cartilage) nasal framework. Once separated Dr. Gorman will correct the framework for form and function using sutures, applying a package and/or stent to immobilize the area until your nose has properly healed. The incisions are generally hidden within the nose to minimize scarring. The procedure can take 1 to 3 hours depending on the procedure and patient, and the dressings can stay on for about a week - But, you can be active as soon as 24 hours after surgery. All procedures and patients are different so recovery and healing time is an ever-changing variable.

Non-surgical (or non-invasive) Rhinoplasty is possible with filler injections to alter the shape of a nose.

Ear Surgery (otoplasty - bilateral & unilateral)

Using detailed diagrams and illustrations; Dr. William Gorman will take you through a step-by-step informational session describing his professional recommendation for your ear surgery.

Ear surgery - also known as otoplasty - can improve the shape, position or proportion of the ear. It can correct a defect in the ear structure that is present at birth, or it can treat misshapen ears caused by injury.

Specifically ear surgery can treat:

  • Overly large ears — a rare condition called macrotia

  • Protruding ears occurring on one or both sides in varying degrees — not associated with hearing loss

  • Adult dissatisfaction with previous ear surgery

  • Deformations from congenital conditions (e.g. microtia, anotia, etc.) or trauma (blunt, penetrating, blast

Children who are good candidates for ear surgery are:

  • Healthy, without a life-threatening illness or untreated chronic ear infections

  • Generally 5 years old, or when a child’s ear cartilage is stable enough for correction

  • Cooperative and follow instructions well

  • Able to communicate their feelings and do not voice objections when surgery is discussed

Teenagers and adults who are good candidates for ear surgery are:

  • Healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions that can impair healing

  • Non-smokers

  • Individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for ear surgery

Chin Augmentation

Chin surgery, or mentoplasty, is a surgical procedure to reshape the chin either by enhancement with an implant or reduction surgery on the bone.

Many times a plastic surgeon may recommend chin surgery to a patient having rhinoplasty in order to achieve facial proportion, as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose.

Chin surgery helps provide a harmonious balance to your facial features so that you feel better about the way you look.

Cheek Augmentation (facial implants)

Facial implants are specially formed solid materials compatible with human tissues, designed to enhance or augment the physical structure of your face.

If you are bothered by lack of facial contour, plastic surgery with facial implants may benefit you.

While any area of your face can be augmented with implants, the cheek or malar area, chin, and jaw are the most common sites for facial implants.

Cheek implants increase the projection of the cheekbones. They add volume to areas that may be recessed or flat.
